A dental bridge consists of an artificial tooth joined to a dental crown. It is used to replace a missing tooth that has at least one existing tooth or implant next to the gap.

 

Bridges can be tooth-supported (bridge cemented onto a tooth beside the gap) or implant-supported (bridge cemented/screwed onto an implant placed next to the gap).
